  • Caribbean Nations (+1)
    • Most Caribbean nations are included in the North American Numbering Plan (NANP).
    • Further details on the NANP Administrator and its history are found in its website and in WTNG's general NANP information section.
    • Area code 809 was originally assigned for all NANP Caribbean and Atlantic islands. Currently, the individual territories are adopting separate area codes, thus breaking up the former area code 809 territory.
  • April 2000 - 1 + 10 digit dialling for toll calls within island
    • Puerto Rico callers must dial '1' followed by the area code (787) and suscriber number for all long distance calls within Puerto Rico by 1 November 2000. A permissive dialling period was to begin April 2000, where old and new toll call formats could be accepted, until the mandatory dialling date of 1 November 2000.
    • This change was made by order of the Puerto Rico Telecommunications Regulatory Board (PRTRB) in October 1999.
